After SpotCheck has
checked your Java applet or application source code, a
compiler is still needed in order to generate the
executable virtual machine code. To accomplish code
generation, and then to execute that code, SpotCheck
relies on third-party helper applications, communicating
with the helpers via AppleEvents. At present, SpotCheck has built-in AE interfaces for Metrowerks' CodeWarrior and Sun's original JDK for the Macintosh. You can choose your compiler, applet viewer, and application runner using the dialog shown here. Note that you can choose your compiler, application runner and applet viewer independently... you can mix and match. Note also that you can use your web browser as an applet viewer. More detailed information on SpotCheck's "back-end" interfaces, and particularly on the interface to Metrowerks' CodeWarrior, is available. We are working on interfaces for additional Java compilers and IDEs, such as Roaster. If you'd like your vote to count in helping us arrange our priorities, send mail to support@genieworks.com. In the meantime, you can still select none as your compiler, and SpotCheck will generate the .java text files you need to compile. |
